Microsoft IllumiRoom
Back in January, before our brilliant website was in existence, Microsoft used CES to announce its lofty goal to keep gamers in their living rooms for ever! How would Microsoft accomplish such a thing? With IllumiRoom, a technology that projects the game onto your walls. I know what you’re thinking but it’s far more than just a projector. It extends the game around your television. Suddenly your gaming experience goes from a measly 37″ (that’s how big my tv is) to a whole damned wall. Get a wider field of view. Make it snow in your living room. Blow shit up!
I aspire to use the technology to create a realistic looking room and then laugh at friends when they try to pick up the projected bag of Cheetos. Better yet, I’m going to pull some Looney Tunes-esque stunts with doors.
It’s still just a research project over at Microsoft but here’s hoping it becomes reality.
I just thought of things I could do with it during my alone time.
