There’s a lot of work that goes into making a video game. Sadly, for the vast majority of them, the story isn’t something that’s given much thought until long after the game is into development. Even for the story focused games like Bioshock and Mass Effect we hold so dear.

Susan O’Connor has written for some of these games and she has a fascinating interview up over at Gameological.com. She bemoans the fate of her profession, and finds herself wondering if she can keep writing the games the public seems to want to play.

Hopefully, one day, video games will be made with as much emphasis on relating to the myriad human conditions as they do to killing people as violently as possible.
