Sitting for an extended period of time is pretty much one of the worst things we can do to ourselves. In fact, sitting for too long for too many days can reduce your life expectancy by up to two years, barring all the other complications that can come with it. As gamers, we do a lot of sitting. But we should do less.

One way to get around that is by making a standing desk. I know, you think standing desks are super expensive and silly and take up too much space. Well, wrong! Kotaku has posted a helpful guide for standing desks and, having made one for my girlfriend before, I can tell you that making a standing desk is the height of ease. And they’re fun to use, too! It’s nice to have more movement, and less back pain!

And sure, when you want to go back to sofa playing you can do that too. No one is saying you should play all your games standing. Just make sure, from time to time, you get up and change it up. Walk around, use a standing desk. Gaming isn’t worth losing two years of your life.
