Jack Bauer to Be Snake?

According to a pre-E3 press conference by Konami, Hideo Kojima has announced that Kiefer Sutherland will be voice Snake in Metal Gear Solid V. Here’s what Kojima had to say about it:

“I wanted Snake to have a more subdued performance expressed through subtle facial movements and tone of voice rather than words,” Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima said. “Furthermore, the game takes place in 1984 when Snake is 49 years old. Therefore, we needed someone who could genuinely convey both the facial and vocal qualities of a man in his late 40s. It’s different from anything we’ve done before.”

I’ve pointed out before that I was depressed about David Hayter being forced out of the role, but after reading that quote I’m now convinced that Hayter and Kojima are trolling us. For one, we’ve already heard Sutherland voicing a different character in the trailer. Secondly, and more importantly, David Hayter is 44 fucking years old. Sutherland is 46. I guess two years makes an actor much wiser, older and subtler?

It was always odd that David Hayter’s announcement was made on April Fool’s Day (fuck you, April Fool’s Day). Now I’m fairly sure that I’ve been had by a long con.

I should have just listened to the Game Grumps from the beginning:
