Durango Rumored to be Always On
According to inside sources, the Durango– Microsoft’s next gaming console– will require an always on connection. According to a Kotaku source:
“Unless something has changed recently,” one of the sources told us over email, “Durango consumer units must have an active internet connection to be used.”
That’s functionally a no buy for me. Not that I don’t have internet (obviously) or that my internet drops a lot, but there’s a lot of times where I don’t want all the notifications from friends signing in and out or people messaging me or even just don’t want to wait for the dashboard to load apps I don’t care about. Not to mention the implications for used games, it seems like Microsoft is dropping the ball for this generation already.
