Zone of the Enders Delayed
Last year Hideo Kojima, of Metal Gear Solid fame, announced that he was working on a sequel to his other major gaming series, Zone of the Enders. And it was a wonderful day for me. Zone of the Enders was a mediocre game, but with the GBA tactics game and Zone of the Enders 2, Kojima really stepped up his game. Z.O.E 2 is unarguably my favorite mech game ever made, and one of my favorite PS2 games ever.
But today Kojima announced it was delayed, possibly indefinitely.
Look, I get that Kojima is going to be making Metal Gear Solid until he dies, or they stop selling, but it’s just depressing to see him unable to make anything but. And it’s even more depressing because that is the one game I’ve been looking forward to learning more about since, well, Z.O.E 2 came out.
Maybe it was because the HD Remake of Z.O.E. 1 and 2 didn’t sell well. Maybe it was because they didn’t think there was enough interest.
One way or the other, this is a sad day for mech fans. Hopefully we’ll hear another announcement of development soon. Until then, let’s watch some footage of what has come before.
