TeeVee, Eve Online TV Show

The EVE Online Fanfest happened this weekend in Iceland, and among other exciting news it was announced that EVE Online, the most mysterious and dense of MMOs, is getting a TV show. No, seriously! What’s more, the show is being based off of the adventures and exploits of the players in the last 10 years of EVE, which just goes to show you that despite the perpetual claims of EVE just being little more than a spreadsheet game there’s something interesting going on there.

I’m actually pretty excited for this show, I’m a big fan of the EVE universe not just as a player driven world but also in terms of its general lore and aesthetic, and the world needs a worthwhile space opera styled show after the bitter disappointment that was the last season of Battlestar Galactica.

This does make me wonder, though, are the names going to change? Because hearing ‘the Goon Squad infiltrated Giant Bomb territory’ on the show would just about be perfect.

The show is apparently still in pre-production, so no word on when it will be out.
