Here we go again!

Many (not all!) gamers and members of the media seem to have a problem with women being gamers, or being in their games (outside of sex objects to be rescued, anyway). Case in point? Gaming magazine Gamereactor scrubbed main character Ellie from The Last Of Us promo shots in a recent article.

In fact, Naughty Dog sent them promo shots with Ellie in them so the magazine can’t even say they didn’t have photos of Ellie. They just chose to remove her. What’s Gamereactor’s defense? Apparently they put the art up to a vote with and without Ellie and the Ellie-less art won. That says all sorts of awful things about the magazine, and their readers, doesn’t it?

How anyone can deny that gaming has an ongoing and persistent problem of sexism and out and out misogyny is beyond me.
