The copyright holders for Nyan Cat and Keyboard Cat are apparently suing the creators of word smithing game, Scribblenauts. There’s some pretty interesting quotes from the court documents like what Nyan cat is:

“Nyan Cat, a character with a cat’s face and a body resembling a horizontal breakfast bar with pink frosting sprinkled with light red dots, flies across the screen, leaving a stream of exhaust in the form of a bright rainbow in its wake.”

A horizontal breakfast bar, huh.

And how does free brand recognition really hurt them? Yes, technically they’re in violation of the law but cracking down on internet meme usage seems pretty contrary to the point of an internet meme.

Controlled, sanitary, corporate memes.

I’d fire mah laser.
